Play Video
The Hep Can’t Wait Asia Workshop is the first-of-its-kind viral hepatitis community workshop organized by the World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA) and supported by Gilead Sciences.

On July 11-12 2023, in Hong Kong, the workshop brought together 24 community-based organizations and 20 community-based representatives across 15 locations under one roof to exchange new ideas and latest approaches taken to reach the World Health Organization (WHO)’s target of eliminating hepatitis B by 2030.

In-depth insights, best local practices were exchanged, and robust discussions covered topics ranging from improving access to vaccination, testing, care, and treatment to the integration of hepatitis B with liver cancer and HIV-related services.

At the end of the Hep Can’t Wait Asia workshop, the participants agreed on a consensus statement which addresses adoptable and enforceable suggestions that public-private-community collaboration can drive policy and systemic change to reduce stigma, improve accessibility and delivery of health for hepatitis B. One of the key takeaways was the pivotal role that communities play in the hepatitis response and the need for collective action to drive change. Read the consensus statement here.
